✈️ Flying High with Gulf Air's Falcon Gold Business Class
Welcome to Smart With Points, the podcast where we dive into the world of travelling with miles and points. I'm your host, Jack, and today we're going to take a look at Gulf Air's Falcon Gold Business Class. I recently had the chance to try it out with my mum on a trip from London to Dubai via Bahrain, and I'm excited to share our experience with you. We booked our flights using 45,000 Air Canada Aeroplan points, which is an absolute steal for the level of luxury we experienced. Our journey began at Heathrow's Terminal 4, where we visited the Gulf Air Falcon Gold Lounge. I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it was, and the breakfast spread was impressive. We enjoyed some morning mimosas together, which was a lovely way to start our adventure. When we boarded the 787-9, I was immediately struck by Gulf Air's modern take on the Apex Suite. The neutral palette and contemporary finishes create a really premium atmosphere, and the seat itself was incredibly spacious. My mum particularly appreciated the combination of privacy and openness, which is something that can be hard to find in business class. The dining experience was also a highlight. We started with a warming soup, followed by a perfectly cooked steak, and finished with a cream tea service that was almost as good as British Airways. The crew kept our champagne topped up throughout, which added to the celebratory atmosphere. Our only hiccup came during the Bahrain connection, where we faced some delays at a bus gate. However, Gulf Air provided a dedicated business class bus, and we were able to get to our next flight without too much hassle. The final A320 hop to Dubai was naturally less spacious than the 787, but the service levels remained consistent and we were treated to another champagne. For an intra-GCC flight, the comfort and catering were impressive. If you're interested in replicating this journey, I highly recommend using Air Canada's Aeroplan. At 45,000 points per person, it's one of the better ways to reach Dubai in style. Just remember to check availability through our Smart Redemptions tool, which can help you spot these sweet spots more easily. A few pro tips for Gulf Air Business Class: book early for Aeroplan redemptions, as availability can be sporadic. Consider row 2 or 3 on overnight flights to avoid galley noise, and allow at least 2 hours in Bahrain if you want to properly experience their lounge. Thanks for tuning in to this episode of Smart With Points. If you've flown Gulf Air's business class or the Apex Suite with another airline, we'd love to hear about your experiences.
