✈️ KrisFlyer Returns: What You Need to Know

Welcome to Smart With Points, the podcast where we dive into the world of travelling with miles and points. I'm your host, Jack, and I'm excited to share some news with you today. If you're a fan of Singapore Airlines, you might have been worried when we reported that KrisFlyer had disappeared as an American Express UK transfer partner. But don't worry, it's back! That's right, KrisFlyer has returned to the Membership Rewards transfer partner list with the same terms as before. You can transfer your points at a rate of three Membership Rewards points to two KrisFlyer miles, with a minimum transfer of nine hundred Membership Rewards points. The transfer time is up to fifteen working days. So, what happened? Well, on the third of January, we noticed that Singapore Airlines had vanished from the Amex UK transfer partners page, and transfer functionality was disabled. Even American Express chat representatives confirmed that transfers weren't possible at the time. Given some recent partnership changes in other markets, we thought it was important to alert our readers to what seemed like a significant development. Okay, we might have jumped the gun a bit, but we believe in keeping our community informed about potential changes that could affect their points strategy. Now, you might be wondering why KrisFlyer still matters. The answer is that Singapore Airlines offers some fantastic sweet spots, particularly for intra-Asia travel. For example, you can find excellent value in business class routes like Singapore to Bali, Bali to Bangkok via Singapore, or Bali to Hong Kong via Singapore. You can plan these routes easily using our Smart Redemptions tool to check availability and compare points requirements across different programs. This incident is a reminder that while we strive to bring you breaking news about points and miles, sometimes changes that appear permanent turn out to be temporary technical issues. We'll continue to monitor and report on developments in the points and miles world, always with the goal of helping you make informed decisions about your points strategy.
